Friedrich Heinrich Kern

Friedrich Heinrich KernFriedrich Heinrich Kern holds degrees in piano and composition from Mannheim University of Music in Germany. His principal teachers included Rudolf Meister, Ok-hi Lee  and Ulrich Leyendecker. Additional studies with Alvin Lucier at Wesleyan University. He spent one year studying traditional Korean music at Seoul National University in Korea. Kern's works have been programmed and commissioned by prestigious ensembles like the Gewandhaus Leipzig, Schwetzinger Festspiele, National Theatre Mannheim or the Berlin Liedfestival. Awarded a MacCracken Fellowship from New York University, he lives and works in New York City.
