Oeuvre:
Piano pieces, solo pieces for strings and brass, chamber music for strings with and without piano, piano songs, orchestral and choir music.

Kind of Music:
Jakob M. von Verschuer composes in a free-tonal manner.  One stylistic characteristic of his music is his way of dealing with the means of musical expression, giving his music a defining intensity.  Frequently a minimalist motif (e.g. an interval) or some other kind of musical idea forms the nucleus of the whole piece.  His music stems from an expressionistic stance.
In his songs he composes very closely following the mood of the words and sentences without losing sight of the whole.  The musical development occurring in the instrumental music is distinguished by a singleness of purpose.
