Johannes Sebastian Voit

Johannes Sebastian Voit was born in Nuremberg in 1980. He studied music and English in Dresden (teaching degree) and composition (with Günter Schwarze and Jörg Herchet at Dresden music college "Carl Maria von Weber"), and completed a PhD in musicology. Further studies in Norwich, England (composition, voice, piano) and Karlsruhe, Germany (with Wolfgang Rihm as a visiting student).
He organises school projects with New Music, like "Neue Musik erleben und gestalten", part of „Klangnetz Dresden“. He also works as a singer, lately as a choral scholar at the church St. Peter Mancroft in Norwich, in Keswick Hall Choir Norwich and in Sächsisches Vocalensemble Dresden as well as in German opera choirs (Theater Görlitz, Landesbühnen Sachsen).
He received scholarships from the Siemens Arts Program (kiss - Kultur in Schule und Studium), the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the Paul Sacher Stiftung, and the Körber Stiftung for the realisation of his PhD in musicology.
