Markus Brylka

(1967 in Essen/Germany)

Markus BrylkaMarkus Brylka began learning the piano at the age of six. In addition to that he had lessons on the organ, clarinet and violin until 1986. First compositions appeared in 1983 and in 1984 the first LP recordings. He studied music (piano, pedagogy, composition and singing) from 1988-1994 at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen-Werden.

Since 1994 has been self-employed as piano teacher, owner and webmaster of the domain www.iapg.de (Internationale-Allan-Pettersson Gesellschaft International Allan Pettersson Society). 1991/92 publication of “Kompositionsarbeit und Formdenken bei Allan Pettersson” (ISBN 3-89727-197-4). Since 1983 a continually growing oeuvre of compositions focusing on symphonic works and piano. The realisation of orchestral music began initially as MIDI, later as sound collages and currently (since 2008) with help from the Vienna Symphonic Library which facilitates a very natural orchestral sound on the PC.

Quote: „I aim for music which, similar to a painting, is composed and performed in every detail by me. With the help of the latest software and fast computers music can be designed to be directly heard without the previously necessary detour via a real orchestra. My music is a confession, a “song without words”, without extra-musical content but pursuing the idea of a narrated story. It is absolute music which should stimulate the imagination of the listener”.

The following URL contains a list of works in chronological order which can be listened to:
www.opus100.de

Quote: „Chronology is the fundament in the creation of all works. Every new piece is related to all pieces which have gone before and results out of them. The creative process of each piece also takes place chronologically from the first to last bar. My music is similar to a plant which develops and grows from a sprout.”

Best known works are:

Chanson (1994) für 2 Klaviere und Bandoneon
Salut to A.P. (1997) für Orchester
