Patrick Ehrich
(* 1976 in Regensburg/Germany)
Patrick Ehrich was born in 1976 in Regensburg. An early interest in music made itself apparent early on but no-one spoke of “talent” until the age of 15. First instruments were clarinet and saxophone followed later by electric guitar and piano. After matriculation in 1995 focusing on music and following a one-year stay in the USA began studying music education as well as English and American studies at the University of Regensburg and University for Church Music and Music Pedagogy, Regensburg (exams 2001/2005).
Private composition lessons with Lutz Landwehr von Pragenau (Munich) were supplemented by several study-residencies with Louis Andriessen (Amsterdam), made possible by a scholarship from the Siemens Arts Program.
Besides current music teaching duties at the Hans-Carossa-Gymnasium in Landshut, compositional activity is focused on the fields of film and choir music whereby creative potential is drawn from the apparent irreconcilability between pop and art music.
From 2006 until 2008 Mr Ehrich carried out a lectureship in harmony at the University of Regensburg.
